If you’re having your surgery performed on an outpatient basis, make sure to arrange for someone to drive you home since you’ll still be experiencing the lingering effects of anesthesia. Dr. Lee will provide you with complete recovery instructions before your procedure.
You’ll experience some swelling and bruising after your procedure. These symptoms are usually worst 2-3 days after surgery, and they will subside after about ten days. Dr. Lee will place a bandage and a neck-compression strap over your face on the first day after surgery. You can take this bandage off in 48 hours to shower.
Sleep on your back, with your head, elevated on two pillows for one week following surgery. This will help reduce swelling. You’ll also want to keep your incisions out of the sun for about a year after facelift surgery. This will help prevent the development of red, raised, and irritated scars.
In general, you should be able to resume all regular activities within 2-3 weeks. However, you will need to refrain from strenuous exercise until Dr. Lee clears you to participate in these activities. It’s important to be patient after surgery. It may take several months before you see your final results.
